Clinical Supervision & Consultation for Mental Health Professionals
One of my favorite parts of my professional practice is providing training, education, support and feedback for other mental health professionals on their professional journey.
Seasoned mental health professionals know that there is never a stopping point for growth in this field. There is always more to learn – both professionally and personally.
The growth challenges – whether learning new skills and expanding our technical proficiency, or deepening our ability to witness tremendous suffering and to facilitate transformative change, or staying centered in our personhood and managing difficulties in our own life while staying profoundly present to our patients – can be both invigorating and overwhelming.
This is a challenging and demanding vocation. It can also be an extremely rewarding vocation – for those who are sufficiently oriented, trained and supported along the way.
With nearly 20 years of full-time clinical experience in various settings, I have both range and depth of knowledge about mental health treatment and practice. Using my experience to support and nurture others in their professional growth is one of the ways that I continue to thrive professionally and to find meaning and challenge in my own work.
In my supervision and consultation work, my emphasis is on empowering mental health clinicians to become highly competent in their chosen work; to feel legitimately confident in their skillset; to cultivate their own unique therapeutic style and professional identity; and to build sustainable work habits for long-term satisfaction as a successful, thriving mental health professional.
Ongoing support for your professional development can come in several forms, including getting the required supervision for licensure, choosing to continue with ongoing supervision after licensure, or seeking clinical consultation for additional support and feedback on your professional journey. The type of support that is appropriate for you will depend on your phase in the professional lifespan.
